Margie Williamson Smith was born on March, 1, 1933 to the late Odele and Edward Williamson. She entered eternal rest on August, 23, 2023 at Riverbend Nursing Home in Belle Chasse LA. She was 93 years old and a native of Port Sulphur LA. until relocating to New Orleans. She was a member of the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Port Sulphur. Beloved mother of Eddie, Emile and Nathaniel Foster. Foster mother of Albert Delone. Grandmother of Avis, Dawn, Tam, Latoya, Roshona, Alon, Valencia, Eddie Jr. Emile Jr., Joseph, Joshua, Lance and Nathaniel. She is also the proud great grandmother of twenty three, and the loving aunt of four generations. Linda and Becky Espadron will forever be two of here favorite nieces who really loved their 'Tee- Margie. Other special nieces and nephews include John B, Hayward and Theodore Williamson, Elder Melia Williamson Woods, and Gizelle Williamson Rankins. She also leaves to cherish her memories Peggy, Ben and Stella Ragas, who were very dear to her heart. She also had many devoted friends such as Ellen, and the late Shirley Antione and the late Mrs. Burell just to name a few. Margie worked as a cook in her younger years at such places as The Delta Club in Port Sulphur, Miljax Bar and Restaurant in Empire and Toki Restaurant in Buras. She later work as the head chef at what is now Carrington Nursing Home on Tullis Dr. in Algiers. Margie was a 'people magnet', everywhere she went it was going to be some kind of special gathering, cooking event, or just a fun time for everyone. She loved going out dancing and having a good time. She was known as a kind and giving person who was always willing to help others in any way she could. She touched so many of her nieces and nephews lives, often letting them and even stranger stay at her house whenever needed. In her later years as she slowed down, she became known as Tee-Margie, Shorty, Rock, Aunt Margie and Mama. Her final chapter was spent as a resident of Riverbend Nursing Home in Belle Chasse where she was loved and respected by the entire staff. She left her mark on everyone she came in contact with at Riverbend. There was never a dull moment when Margie was around. She was known for waving and smiling at everyone who passed by her room and would even cuss you out if necessary (lol). Her family is forever gratefully to the entire staff at Riverbend, especially Tosha and her crew who took excellent care of her while there. Margie was proceeded in death by her parents, Odele and Edward Williamson, her husband Leroy Smith and her siblings Mary Ann Jones, Pastor John C., Edward (Fred) and Theodore Williamson as well as several relatives and friends.
