Elisabeth A. Grant, known affectionately as 'Betsy,' passed away on September 17, 2024, at her home in Belle Chasse, La., at the age of 65. Born on March 4, 1958, in New Orleans; she was a lifelong resident of Louisiana. Elisabeth spent over four decades as a jewelry artist in the Historic French Market, where she earned her nickname 'The Pearl Lady.' Her work not only beautified countless lives but also embodied the spirit of New Orleans' vibrant culture. A graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School, Betsy furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in English from Southeastern University of Louisiana. Her education fueled her passion for words, and the arts, which was evident in both her career and her hobbies. Known for her kind soul and hardworking nature, Elisabeth was a devoted mother who lived life on her own terms. She found joy in making jewelry and cherished the time spent with her children, Katherine and Justin, who survive her. Elisabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Virginia Wilson Grant and George D. Grant, and her sister, Lucinda Louise Grant. Relatives and friends of the family attended the Celebration of Elisabeth's Life held at Ralph's on the Park, in New Orleans; on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Interment: Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, La. Her life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, as she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
