In all newspapers, there is an opinion or editorial page where readers are encouraged to express their thoughts. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I always do. A New Year always brings with it promise and uncertainty, but this coming year brings with it a greater foreboding than we have experienced in the past. _e Chinese have a saying: “May you live in interesting times.” But their de_nition means dangerous or turbulent. We in Louisiana and throughout America certainly live in “interesting” times today.

I think most would agree that over the past few years the landscape of America has changed. We’ve all been affected.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited three Georgia men for alleged red drum violations in Plaquemines Parish on Dec. 29.

_e Plaquemines Parish Sheri #8217;s Oce (PPSO) would like to take a moment to recognize Blue Marine Transportation (BMT) in Belle Chasse for making a monetary donation to the Plaquemines Parish Sheri #8217;s Oce that was dedicated to purchasing safety equipment for the Drug Interdiction Criminal Enforcement (DICE) Unit and to the PPSO K-9 Program.

New Year’s Day found me out in the garden with a pair of pruning shears while my black-eyed peas simmered in the kitchen. I spent most of the day trimming back frozen plants, weeding my kitchen garden, and re_ecting on the year past and the new year ahead.
