John D. Sylve, born December 16, 1952, departed this life on August 12, 2024 at the age of 71. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to the late Debra M. Sylve; father of Consuello (Erin Sr.), Shannon (Corey), and Emily Sylve, grandfather of Taylor Williamson, Justyce McCoy (Shawn Sr.), Veronica Ragas, Paco(Gabby) Manuel, Erin Ragas Jr.(Riley), Black(Cheyenne) Manuel, Ricky Manuel, JaNyah Manuel, and Roland Sylve, great-grandfather of Shyla Sylve, Wayde Gabriel, Shane McCoy, Daxten Williamson, Shawn McCoy III and Aviana Manuel. He was a lifelong resident of Port Sulphur, LA, where he enjoyed fishing with his buddy Narry and shooting the shit around the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney John and Mary C. Sylve, his brothers Jerry Barthelemy and Sidney Bruno Sylve, Sr., his sister Helen Duplessis, in-laws Anastasia and Thomas Matherne, and great-grandson Ty Jamar Williamson. He leaves to cherish memories his children, grand and great-grandchildren, his sisters Carolyn Sylve and Josephine Carmadelle, his brother Donald (Debra) Sylve, sister-in-law Inez P. Sylve, his Gold child Emmett Sylve, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will always be remembered for his witty comebacks and no-nonsense attitude. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten! Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Patrick Catholic Church attended Visitation and Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 LA-23, in Port Sulphur, on Friday, August 16, 2024.
