Aramise A. 'Jimmy' Ates died on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the age of 79. He was a native of Belle Chasse and lived in Terrytown, Jean Lafitte and Picayune, Ms. He retired after 45 years from Avondale Shipyards as their sign painter and was also the owner of Terrytown Signs. He enjoyed family, friends, music, travel, outdoors, and all aspects of life. Jimmy was married for 60 years to his beloved wife, June Cavallier Ates.
He is survived by his son Danny Ates (Susan), his daughter Angela Ates LaFrance (Chetta), his granddaughter Brittany Adams, and his great-grandson Parker Adams. He was preceded in death by his father John W. Ates, his mother Annis Babin Ates, and siblings Jack 'Pete' Ates, Ruby Ates Cheramie, Adrian 'A.J.' Ates, Alvin 'Pee Wee' Ates, Melvin 'Chubby' Ates and Annis Ates Parker. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. to held at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., in Gretna, La.; followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy., in Harvey, La. on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
