Bobbie Nell McDonald Williams, affectionately known by many names such as Barbara Nell, Aunt Barbara, Possum, Nell, Home Girl, Hunnie Bunnie, Chugalug and Barbara Beasley, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at her home. Bobby Nell Williams was born at home in Rose Hill, Mississippi, on January 28, 1939 to the late Mittie Beatrice Ryans and Odisie McDonald. She later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and eventually settled in Harvey, Louisiana, Bobby Nell accepted Jesus and was baptized at a young age, holding onto her faith throughout her life. Her favorite scripture, Psalms 23, brought her comfort, and we also wish to honor her with 2 Timothy 4:7: 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.' She spent her career caring for children at Wiggins Day Care Center in Hollygrove, where her love for the little ones left a lasting impact. Known for her generosity, she was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear, she asked lots of questions and gave many answers. Her warmth and kindness made her a beloved friend to many. She had a passion for fishing, baking cakes and delicious sweet potato pies, and was also a skilled hairdresser and homemaker. After moving to Harvey, she became a cherished member of Israel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnny McKinnies Sr., singing in the choir and later serving as a deaconess, until her health no longer allowed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mittie Beatrice Ryans and Odisie McDonald; her sisters, Georgia Wheeler and Kywanda Butcher; sisterinlaw, Margie Pickens; brotherinlaw, Raymond Williams; grandson, Jamal Stewart; brother, Mose Butcher Jr.; her second father, Mose William Butcher Sr. (paw); and her grandparents, Spurgeon Ryans, Georgia L. Ryans, Anthony McDonald and Zelma McDonald. She leaves to cherish her memory her five children: Andrew (Lorina) Williams, James (Eva Rose) Williams, Patrick (Deidra) Williams, Patricia (Donald) Williams, and Kevin (Michelle) Williams. One sister Linda Myles and one Brother Alvin Butcher. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 36 greatgrandchildren, her bonus daughter Kimberly Jemison, her Godchildren Alvin Butcher, Melissa Roberson, Bernice Tolbert, Shannon Wright, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family attended the celebration of life service which on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Israel Baptist Church located at 1612 Esther Street, Harvey, LA. Pastor Darryl McKinnies is the officiated and Minister Donald Williams deliverd the eulogy. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery in Metairie, La.
