A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Dawson Allen Wainright III, age 68, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in Lafayette. Dawson was born on February 20, 1958 in Buras, LA. He was a very strong-willed person in life who loved fixing things for the people he held dear. Playing music was a passion of his, especially the guitar. Dawson was an amazing father and a very loving grandfather. He has left a lifetime of fond memories for his family and friends to cherish. Dawson will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He is survived by his children, Amanda Hebert of Lake Arthur, Tara Wainright of Lake Arthur, Jessica Goff (James) of Rusk Texas, Dawson Allen Wainright IV (Meghan) of Houston Texas, and Jonathon Wainright (Jayce) of Tacoma Washington; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Jayla, Lylah, Issac, Brianna, Michael, Braiden, Kimberly, and Maren; his three great grandchildren; his siblings, Molly Wainright Williams, Cathy Wainright Beaty (Joe), and John Jonathan Wainright; as well as his nieces and nephews, Roger and Melissa Boyle, Byran and Renee Boyle, Vicki and Lance Drews, Scotland Albarado, Joe and Melanie Beaty, and Jonathan David Wainright. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Glenda 'Vanessa' Wainright; his parents, Edia Marie Michon Wainright and Dawson Allen Wainright Jr.; his sister, Joyce Ann Wainright Prest; his brothers-in-law, Don Williams and Roger Boyle Sr.; and his niece, Samantha Prest.
