Belle Chasse Man Cited for Commercial Oyster Violations

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Belle Chasse man for alleged oyster violations on April 13 in Plaquemines Parish. Agents cited Shane Shelley, 38, for improperly filling out oyster tags, violation of the state’s sanitation code as it pertains to keeping adequate records on sight with the oysters, failure to maintain trip tickets and adulterating and misbranding seafood.

DA’s Office and Belle Chasse American Legion Bring Easter Baskets to Plaquemines Children

The American Legion Post 329 of Belle Chasse and District Attorney Charles Ballay partnered to bring Easter Baskets to 30 children in Plaquemines Parish. Each year, Bryan and Sheryl Ruiz volunteer to help organize and put together the baskets that were distributed. This year’s baskets included chocolate treats, a special toy, eggs filled with candy, and a chocolate Easter Bunny. The baskets were delivered to the children on April 14. The American Legion, under the leadership of Commander John Richardson, donated the baskets to children who are in most need and with the help of the District Attorney’s Office, the children were able to receive their baskets in time for Easter. 15th Annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off Puts Out the Call for Chefs

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board have begun the search for chefs to participate in the 15th Annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off, which will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette. Chefs from across the state who meet the eligibility standards are invited to submit applications by the Friday, May 6, deadline.

BCA Holds “Leader in Me” Shirt Design Contest

Belle Chasse Academy held a t-shirt design contest to celebrate the implementation of the “Leader in Me” initiative this year. BVES Applauds Accelerated Reader Goal Achievers

Boothville-Venice Elementary School (BVES) is excited to congratulate the students who achieved their Accelerated Reader (AR) goal for the third nine weeks. Students achieving their reading goals are recognized by their picture on the BVES Wall of Fame, AR cart of prizes and a morning show shout out by Mrs. Maria Prout, Principal of BVES.
