Mark Walter Carraway, born on August 15, 1952, passed away on August 20, 2026. His departure leaves a profound sense of loss among all who knew and loved him. A lifelong resident of Belle Chasse, LA, Mark was a man whose life was rich in both experience and connection. Throughout his years, he nurtured a deep passion for fishing, where peaceful mornings on the water reflected his patient and gentle nature. His fascination with computer technology highlighted both his intellectual curiosity and his adaptability in a rapidly changing world. Photography was another avenue through which Mark found joy, capturing moments and memories with an artist's eye and a storyteller’s heart. Beyond his personal interests, Mark’s life was marked by enduring friendships that spanned decades, forming in his college years and remaining strong to this day. The shared adventures, laughter, and legendary exploits created a tapestry of memories treasured both by Mark and by those who were fortunate enough to call him friend. His devotion to community was equally evident in the bonds he formed during Dixie Youth baseball days, coaching and supporting the kids, as well as through the warmth and camaraderie of the much-anticipated annual spring crawfish boils. Mark is survived by his loving wife Mary L. Carraway; daughter- in-law Qwendolyn A. Chew-Sanchez; brother-in-law Randal J. Ledet; and sister-in-law Michelle Giroir Ledet. He was predeceased by son Peter J. Sanchez; parents Walter G. Carraway and Mary Ann Brunet Carraway; and in-laws Rudolph J. Ledet and Victoria A. Ledet. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
