Charles R. Johnson Jr.

Charles R. Johnson Jr., better known as 'Charlie,' decided to take his love for Disney to the next level by heading off to the greatest Magic Kingdom in the sky on July 12, 2024 at the age of 70. Born on May 26, 1954, in Port Sulphur, La., Charlie spent more than three decades delivering mail and smiles as a beloved post office worker. When he wasn't working on his postal route, you could find him staking out a spot on the parade route. He leaves behind his wife, Rita, who was the Minnie to his Mickey; his children: Jessica, Sarah, Charles III (Katie), and Melanie who were his greatest hits; and his grandchildren: Ryder, Sydney, and Paisley, who were the sweetest notes in his melody. He also leaves behind his sisters, Beth Vincent (Barry) and Arleen Kootsouradis (Nick), who will miss their big brother dearly, as well as a loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Waiting for him at the gates are his big sister, Cheryl Monus, and their parents, Charles Sr. and Dolores. Charlie is finally reunited with his best friend, Wilfred 'Bill' Metzler III. Charlie's legacy will be a playlist of cherished memories, laughter, and the occasional lightsaber duel. May the force be with you, Charlie, as you join the great band in the sky. Relatives and friends attend the Visitation, Funeral Service and Eulogies at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, La., on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
