Brigid Messina Dufrene gained her wings to be with our heavenly father on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Harry “Hotsy” Joesph Dufrene Jr. for 55 years. They were childhood sweethearts and in love for 62 years. She was the devoted mother of Chauntel Dufrene (Kenny), Harry Dufrene III (Erin), and Brandon Dufrene (Lindsey). Loving Mimi of Lainey, Christopher, Taylor, Savannah, Braelyn, Brandon II, Heartlee, Rilyn, Charlotte, Kane, Peyton, Laikyn, Alina, and Grayson. Sister to Russel Messina (Iole), Paulette Fenger, Patti Reeves (Paul), Anna Bordelon, Judy Bourg (Gerald), Mike Messina (Vicki), and Belinda Pollock (Ernie). Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Brigid was preceded in death by her parents, Anna McCrossen Messina and Joesph Anthony Messina Sr.; her brother Joesph Messina Jr.; and brother-in-law Charlie Fenger. Brigid was born and raised in the Irish Channel and resided in Belle Chasse for the last 25 years. Even though she lived on the Westbank for the last 45 years, her heart has always belonged to the Irish Channel. She was a housewife for most of her life. She lived for her children and her grandchildren whom she adored. She was a member of the Out for Fun Social club, Good Times Jamaica Dance club, 11th Ward Ladies social club and the JP Ceramics group. She loved going to lunch weekly with all her sisters, spending time at the mall with family, and most of all shopping. Also, she was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner at OLPH church in Belle Chasse.
